Foundation: Vision and Values

The Just Living Foundation was set up to create a living fund, supporting causes we feel passionate about as a family, focusing on human needs and rights.

Impact and Sustainability are key motivators for our Foundation’s giving strategy. We will support grassroot partners to achieve change in an effective and efficient way.

Our Family

Stuart and his two sons, Julian and Mel, were keen to use their expertise in business, organisation and ethics to support small charities to increase their impact for the communities they serve. These aspirations led to the formation of the Just Living Foundation, evolving from the original charitable trust fund that Stuart had funded from the sale of his business. The foundation initially focused on three main giving themes, clean water, food and essential healthcare.

Since then our family has grown and with the addition of partners and children, we grew increasingly passionate about educating future generations on the importance of giving to those who have very little. Education was added as a giving theme following a fund raising initiative spearheaded by our youngest family member, eco-warrior Arlo, 3. With a little help from his Mum, Laura, he raised money at nursery for “Kids Against Plastic” and this made us realise how early a giving mindset can be encouraged. Laura formally joined the foundation as a Trustee in 2022 and is leading a new initiative aimed at twinning local schools with those in developing countries.
